Full time - 35 hours per week: Monday – Friday, 9.00 am – 5.00 pm

An opportunity has become available for a Solicitor to join our Personal Injury Department at our Head Office in Derby.

Purpose & Objective of Job:

  • Fee Earning activities relating to the provision of legal services to the firm’s clients.  To meet performance targets as defined and to carry out other duties as determined by the Partners.
  • To promote the image of the Firm at all times as a professional, effective and efficient provider of legal services.
  • To help raise the profile of the firm through business development activities; 

Main Responsibilities:

  • To promote the firm and attract new clients in conjunction with other members of the dept.
  • To be alert when acting for clients of other legal services they may require and to refer clients to other departments within the firm.
  • Taking full instructions from clients
  • Advising clients on points of law
  • Drawing up all relevant documents
  • Keeping the client informed of all developments, liaising with client and advising of any further action(s) at the conclusion of the matter.
  • Corresponding with the client
  • Time recording
  • Dealing with correspondence
  • Case management
  • File review
  • Maintenance of diaries
  • Attending clients in person and by telephone
  • Opening and closing files
  • Monitoring ledgers and liaising with the Accounts department regarding outstanding amounts

Experience And Knowledge Required:

  • Experience of working in relevant area of Law

  • Drafting and negotiating skills
  • Business development Skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  •  Ability to deliver a strongly client-focussed service, giving timely practical legal solutions to client problems;
  • A good networker;
  • A team player who is committed and capable of developing their own workload with the Firm’s support and team members;
  • Ability to organise own files and supervise support staff to ensure efficient delivery of service;
  • Take responsibility for financial management of own files and ensure all bills are delivered and followed up in an efficient manner;
  • Good IT and word processing skills;
  • Ability to work under pressure.

Qualifications Required:

  • Law Degree
  • Practising Certificate
