A step in the right direction...

We are delighted to be moving our HQ to brand new premises, Norman House on Friar Gate, only a minute walk from our current office.  After being in our current premises, Celtic House, for nearly 2 decades, we are pleased to be moving our 100 staff to, what is set to be, Google inspired offices.

Thanks to Rob Roddy from MCR the Landlords, Nick Hosking from Innes England, who is massively proud to be the Property Agent and Howard Barnes from 360 degrees, the team have shaken hands on what will be a one of a kind office for any law firm in the Midlands.

Our Russell Davies, said: “We have project managed this from the start, it has been an exciting time and it’s great to see the project finally coming together.  Our vision, as it always has been with our brand, is to be different from any other conventional law firm.  The public will have a lot to look at in the coming months as work begins to kit out our office space and we hope to be settled in by the end of this summer.  Our main focus is making this a unique and prominent space not only for our employees but of course our clients.  We hope they are going to be as pleased with our new offices as we are.”

Nick Lake, fund manager at MCR Property Group which redeveloped the building, said: “We are very pleased to welcome Smith Partnership Solicitors to their new offices in Heritage Gate. Through the new state of the art work space offering and perfectly positioned location, we hope to help market-leading occupiers, Smith Partnership Solicitors attract and retain the best talent as well as improving wellbeing amongst staff.”

Howard Barnes, Creative Designer from 360 degrees who has been the brains behind the innovative design said “When our long term client MCR approached us for assistance with an interior design and fit out at Norman House we didn’t know what to think; it was a pretty drab looking building….and for a firm of solicitors – could this be the recipe for a dull ‘vanilla box’ piece of work?

How wrong could we have been!  When I walked into the empty space for the first time the potential for something out of the ordinary was almost palpable.  “Our designers would give their eyebrows to work up a scheme on this” he announced.

Added to the potential is Smith Partnership’s appetite for something different, and from the outset the two companies were sharing the best of Pintrest and other media in the quest to develop a space like no other.  And now the design development phase is finished.  The legals have all been completed and we can’t wait to start making this distinctive and unique scheme a reality – watch this space Derby; the city hasn’t seen a workplace like this before!
