What I do
I am a Childcare Paralegal, I graduated my Law degree in 2021 and I am currently doing the LPC part-time alongside working full time. My main role is to work alongside the three Childcare solicitors at the Longton office and to assist on their matters. I engage in a variety of tasks; including going to Court on behalf of a solicitor to support their clients emotionally and to observe. I also make detailed notes on everything, including what the barrister says. I assist on considering documents such as contact logs/medical records and more. I mainly complete tasks that help assist the solicitors.
Case Study:
I recently worked alongside one of the solicitors on one of their matters. The primary client was the mother, in this case the two eldest children made allegations of abuse by their mother and stepfather. The case had been ongoing for 2 years. when I started to help assist on this case there was an upcoming 7-day fact finding hearing whereby, I attended every day in Court with her to assist and to be there as moral support. The Judge made findings on the allegations of abuse, and it was therefore decided the children should remain in foster placement/ in care. This was a difficult time for the mother, at this point I was mainly in Court to support her emotionally.
Languages:
I can speak, read, and write German.
What I bring to the team
I believe I am very friendly and approachable. I have a big heart and care about everyone, which I feel is important especially in this are of Law.
Key interests
Outside of work, I spend a lot of time with family, I have nieces and nephews who I often visit and spend time with. I also enjoy socialising with others, my partner, and I often meet with our friends. We recently bought two kittens and it was the best decision we ever made (after he swayed me to get pets)! He also recently proposed to me, so we are now engaged!
