Sue Woodall

What I do

Residential conveyancing, dealing with all types of sales, purchases and remortgages on freehold and leasehold properties including new builds, leasehold flats and apartments, shared ownership leases and other similar schemes, sheltered housing transactions, equity releases, Help to Buy cases, development land sales and purchases.

I try to maintain a sense of humour as that definitely helps when dealing with a high volume of work where, perhaps understandably given the high stress that moving house can generate, many clients seem to think that theirs is the only transaction my team and I are handling! I like to build a good, informal relationship with clients and colleagues but I readily admit to being a grammar and spelling pedant! Having been a qualified Solicitor for nearly 40 years, I do try to help and support younger, less experienced colleagues as for me, the team environment we have at our firm is one the main reasons why I am glad I made the move here at the start of 2017.

In my spare time, I play a lot of bridge and am proud to have been selected for the County team representing Derbyshire in national events. I am also a cycling fanatic. I could bore for England on the subject of professional road cycling, having followed it avidly for at least 30 years. I have travelled to Europe to watch road stages of the Grand Tours and also love watching track cycling. I already have my ticket for the London 6 Day in October 2019 and, as a member of British Cycling, I will be involved as a volunteer assisting with the running of the UCI World Road Race Championships that are being held in Yorkshire in 2019. I read a lot, enjoy going to the cinema and to the theatre and I love The Archers! I was on the Committee of the Derby & District Law Society for many years, having held all the main offices including being President in 2006/2007. In recent years, I have developed a keen interest in travelling to places I have long wanted to visit including Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, South Africa and Cuba and in 2019 I finally made it to the place that has fascinated me since I was a child - Antarctica. It was definitely one of the best experiences of my life and I want to go back again already!
