Paralegal – Family - Burton / Swadlincote

Are you an experienced Family Paralegal looking to take your career to the next level? Do you have a passion for family law and a strong background in providing legal support in complex family matters? We are seeking a Senior Paralegal to join our dynamic Family Law team in our Burton / Swadlincote office.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with experienced family solicitors and make a real impact for clients dealing with some of the most challenging legal situations.
Smith Partnership is a leading law firm in the Midlands. A forward thinking and progressive company employing over 200 staff throughout 5 offices.
What you will do:
- Provide high-quality support to solicitors and clients in family law matters, including divorce, financial settlements, child custody, and domestic violence cases.
- Prepare legal documents, including divorce petitions, consent orders, financial orders, and child arrangement orders.
- Assist with case management and liaising with clients, experts, and other professionals.
- Draft correspondence and maintain accurate records of all client matters.
- Attend client meetings and court hearings (where required), offering invaluable assistance and support to solicitors and clients.
- Conduct legal research and help maintain case files to ensure all matters are dealt with efficiently and in line with current family law procedures.
- Supervise and mentor junior paralegals and support staff, ensuring high standards of work are maintained.
What we are looking for:
- Previous experience as a Family Paralegal, ideally with at least 3-5 years’ experience working in a family law environment.
- Solid knowledge of family law, including divorce, financial settlements, child arrangements, and domestic abuse matters.
- Ability to manage a caseload and work efficiently with minimal supervision, demonstrating excellent time-management skills.
- Strong client-facing skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal matters in an accessible and empathetic way.
- Experience with case management systems, legal research, and document preparation.
- An understanding of legal procedures and court processes within family law.
- A proactive, organised, and self-motivated individual who is keen to take on more responsibility and contribute to the department’s success.
