An opportunity has become available for two Will Writers to join our Wills, Trusts & Probate Department at our Head Office in Derby. 

Purpose & Objective of Job:

To provide clear, competent, and efficient advice to the Private Clients of the firm. To help with the supervision, support and training of a team of Paralegals and Legal Assistants in the Private Client team and to successfully lead the delivery of team Key Performance Indicators. 

Duties, Tasks, and Responsibilities:

Technical competency

To competently advise clients in relation to,

  1. Drafting Wills,
  2. Asset protection trusts in Wills,
  3. Letters of Wishes 
  4. Lasting Powers of Attorney,
  5. Administering an estate after death,

Operational competency

To supervise and assist in the training of a team of less experienced Paralegals and Legal Assistants.

To evolve and utilise systems of workflow and case management to assist in the efficient delivery of legal services and great customer care.

To oversee team performance targets as defined and to carry out other duties as determined by the Partners and HoD. 

To uphold exceptional standards of quality and client care.

  • To follow all policies and procedures contained within the Staff Handbook
  • To identify and report any risks to the COLP, COFA or Money Laundering Reporting Officer where necessary

Experience Required:

  • Drafting Wills and LPAs 
  • Understanding of trusts is Wills
  • Supervision of junior team members
  • Ability to identify areas of client risk

Experience Desired:

  • Managing data and KPI’s

Knowledge Required:

  • Triage and data collection
  • Use of case management and Will drafting software
  • Inheritance Tax 
  • Will drafting based on client risk

Skills And Personal Attributes Required:

  • Team management and supervision
  • Client interpersonal skills and empathetic approach
  • Ability to prepare documents in a concise and efficient way
  • Capable of understanding KPIs & data 
  • Identify betters ways of working
  • Management of business risk when processing instructions
  • Able to proactively engage with other areas of the business.

Qualifications Required:

  • Qualification to post graduate level
