An opportunity has arisen at our Derby office, for an Associate / Senior Associate to join us our Personal Injury team.

The team at Smith Partnership are personal injury and medial negligence solicitors specialising in serious injury and negligence claims.  Excellent client care is central to the services we provide to support people who have been harmed so we can guide them through the claims process in a professional yet approachable way. Our close knit team is now looking develop in order to support the continued success of the department.

Our personal injury team represent Claimants in a mixture of Public Liability cases, Employer's Liability cases and Road Traffic Accidents, all with varying degrees of complexity. 

Role overview: 

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate / Senior Associate to join our personal injury team. The successful candidate will join our well-established team. 

The role involves being responsible for handling a varied caseload of personal injury matters, including road traffic accidents, workplace injuries, public liability claims, and more.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified solicitor with strong personal injury expertise to join a progressive firm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing a caseload of fast-track and multi-track personal injury claims
  • Advising clients on liability, quantum, and litigation risks
  • Drafting pleadings, witness statements, and Court documents 
  • Negotiating settlements and representing clients in court if required
  • Ensuring compliance with CPR, pre-action protocols, and firm procedures
  • Liaising with solicitors, insurers, medical experts, and other stakeholders

What we are looking for:

  • Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive (CILEX) with a current practising certificate
  • Ideally 3-5 years PQE 
  • Experience within the field of personal injury 
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and case management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • A commitment to maintaining the highest standards of client service.
