Commercial printer raises 30K in 30 days for local charities
June was a busy a month for Amanda Strong, Owner and Managing Director of Derby-based commercial printer, Mercia Image Print.
Not only did she win Entrepreneur of the Year, at the Derby Telegraph Awards and learn that she was a finalist for the East Midlands Chamber’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award but she also set herself a challenge to mark her company's 30th anniversay - to raise £30,000 from a raft of events in the 30 days of June to share between 30 local charities.
Mercia Image Print has supported local charities since its inception. With support from local businesses, charities and other organisations, events were held throughout June, ranging from lunches to bake sales, treasure trails and pub crawls to dress down days and scalextric nights - all aimed at putting the "fun back into fundraising".
The finale of the '30 Days of Giving' campaign was an evening of glitz and glamour at a 1920s-themed gala dinner, held at Derbyshire Cricket Ground, organised by Claire Twells of Smith Partnership. The evening alone raised £15,000 for the initiative, helping Amanda to get ever closer to the target of £30,000 which, at the outset, seemed an impossible feat.
Amanda said: “I am thrilled that we have raised so much money for charity. The support that my fellow businesses have shown to this initiative has been fantastic. Derby really does have an amazingly supportive business community and I am so proud that Mercia Image Print has been part of this for 30 years and will contnue to be for many years to come.”
Claire Twells comments: “It’s been a busy month, but when you see the result of the 30 Days of Giving campaign, everyone can be immensely proud of all their hard work and generosity”.
Smith Partnership was a proud partner of 30 Days of Giving and we were absolutely thrilled to announce that we secured a once-in-a-lifetime experience to be auctioned off for the 30 charities involved. This being 2 tickets to the NFL Super Bowl LIV, taking place at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on Sunday 2nd February 2020, return flights from London to Miami were also included, thanks to the incredible generosity of Last Man Music.
