Smith Partnership welcomes new Head of Conveyancing

After two and a half years as Head of Conveyancing at Smith Partnership, Julie Tomasik is stepping down and handing the role over to Rachel Maxwell

In her time with us, Julie has grown the Conveyancing team from strength to strength and made it into the robust department that it is today. From nurturing the existing talent within the department and creating team unity across all the offices, to building commercial contacts and implementing our new client on-boarding system Minerva, Julie has left an everlasting impact.

As a firm, we are incredibly grateful for all the hard work and passion Julie has put in and look forward to seeing what Rachel will accomplish!

Rachel, who has recently been promoted to Partner, is well equipped to take on this role with over 13 years within the Conveyancing industry and 7 years' experience as a Senior Associate. She is also a prominent member of the legal industry through her presence at local networking events and being Deputy Vice President of the Derby and District Law Society.

She talks about this new role, “I am incredibly excited to embark onto the next chapter of my career. The Conveyancing department at Smith Partnership consists of some of the most hardworking and passionate individuals that I have had the privilege to work with, so I am proud beyond belief to be able to lead them.”

“With Julie’s guidance and mentorship, I am confident that I can lead the already successful Conveyancing department that she has created to thrive. Julie is an inspiration to me, as I am sure she is to many, her knowledge and commitment to client satisfaction is awe-inspiring, so working alongside her over the past months has been an honor.”

Although Julie is passing the baton of Head of Conveyancing over to Rachel, she has no intentions of slowing down. She will remain with the firm as a Professional Support Lawyer, supporting her clients through the conveyancing process and offering mentorship to Rachel. Next year will mark her 50th year in the industry.

She talks about the transition, “Leading the Conveyancing team here at Smiths, has been the highlight of my career. The team is full of ambitious and passionate people who I have treasured working with.”

She continues, “Ordinarily, handing over a team and a role that I love so much would leave me feeling apprehensive, however, I know with Rachel I am leaving them in excellent hands! Rachel has a wealth of experience within Conveyancing and has demonstrates levels of eagerness and resilience that I have not encountered before. I am looking forward to seeing what she can achieve and to watching the team flourish under her leadership.”
