Smith Partnership recognised among leading firms in The Legal 500 2027

Smith Partnership has once again been recognised in The Legal 500, with the firm securing rankings across 11 practice areas in the newly released 2027 guide.

The Legal 500 is one of the legal profession’s most established independent directories, researching and ranking law firms and lawyers across the UK based on factors including recent casework and feedback from clients and industry peers.

In the 2027 rankings, Smith Partnership has been recognised across 11 areas, with Family and Criminal Law retaining Tier One status.

The firm has also secured 7 individual lawyer rankings, including Muctar Johal in the Hall of Fame; Claire Twells and Andrew Oldroyd as Leading Partners; Anna McLeod and Oliver Maxwell as Next Generation Partners; and Vasanti Vaitha and Victoria Townsend with Leading Associate recognitions.

Our Victoria Townsend was promoted to Partner in April 2026. Having qualified in 2016, she joined Smith Partnership in 2019 and has spent the last seven years building a strong reputation amongst her peers. She is an accredited member of the Association of Contentious Trusts and Probate Specialists (ACTAPS) and has led the Contentious Trusts and Probate Department since 2021. Victoria thoroughly deserves to be recognised as a leading individual in her field in this year’s Legal 500, having kept her practice area in Tier Two status following a climb of the rankings in recent years.

Managing Partner, James Johnson, comments on the firm’s recognition:
