Law firm pledges support to local charity

Smith Partnership have announced a long-term commitment to local charity, the Star Trust, contributing a monthly donation, which will be donated to SME charities across Derby and Derbyshire that need it the most.

The donation is in response to an appeal put out by Derby entrepreneur Kavita Oberoi OBE, patron of the Star Trust, asking the Derby business community to pledge a monthly amount from £50 upwards.

Kavita Oberoi talks more in detail about the pledge, “Most of our yearly funds are raised at our annual ball and motoring days and is then sent to charities that have applied within a few weeks. So, when I first joined Star Trust as a patron, I was keen to develop a way of generating funds throughout the year, so that charities can benefit from our support when and where they most need it.”

“We are incredibly grateful to Smith Partnership for their generous pledge! This money will go a long way to supporting local charities. We would not have been able to support as many charities as we do without the generosity of businesses like Smith Partnership.”

Since establishing in 2013, the Star Trust has donated over £925,000 to 128 local charities who have applied for funds to support their vital works. They have supported a wide range of causes from children’s charities to supporting the homeless to helping those suffering from mental health issues and everything in between. The work they do is phenomenal and we are so proud that the Partnership are to be able to support them!
