Prost! Oktoberfest-style event comes to Derby
Clinking steins, cries of ‘Prost’ and oompah band music will fill the air when an Oktoberfest-style event comes to Derby later this year.
Law firm Smith Partnership, civil engineers BSP Consulting and brand agency Champions (UK) plc have decided to stage a networking event with a difference, incorporating traditional German food, music and, of course, beer.
The event, called Proptobier, is aimed at those working in the East Midlands property and professional services sectors and will take place at the home of Derby’s award-winning Bustler Market, in John Street, Derby, on October 10.
Oktoberfest is held in Munich every year, attracting tens of thousands of visitors from around the world. At Derby’s version, guests will be served with pretzels and a stein of Freedom Brewery beer on arrival, before tucking into German delicacies such as bratwurst and currywurst, provided by Get Wurst, while listening to a performance by the Bavarian Strollers, the UK’s premier oompah band. There will also be fun fair stalls, where visitors can win prizes, and an opportunity to ‘speed taste’ some of Freedom’s other beer offerings.
Smith Partnership business development executive Tom Erskine said organisers hoped the event would encourage some serious business networking but in a fun environment.
"We are really excited to be working with BSP Consulting and Champions (UK) plc to bring Oktoberfest to the East Midlands. We hope to make this an annual event for the property and professional services sectors.
“We are also thrilled to be working with Bustler Market, who have, over the last few years, demonstrated how successful it can be to use redundant commercial spaces for quirky event use."
Bustler has created a real buzz in the region by staging its pop-up markets in empty retail and commercial premises and its staff will be using their expertise to help make Proptobier a real success.
Champions managing director Matt Hayes said his company was delighted to be supporting the event.
“This will be a very different, fun event for the region’s property and professional services sectors. Business and bratwurst – could there be a better combination?”
BSP Consulting business development director Jeff Todd said that it is great to be involved in organising an event like Proptobier for local businesses.
“This is such a great event for the Derby business community and as a Derby based company, we’re so excited to be involved in organising something so unique. As it’s our 20th anniversary we have much to celebrate.
“By working alongside Smith Partnership and Champions to pick the best venue, food and drink, we hope this is going to be THE networking event of the year.”’
Tickets for the event cost £45 and include a two-course meal and a litre of beer served in a traditional stein - available to purchase from: www.eventbrite.com/e/proptobier-tickets-64790752886
