Experienced Residential Property Lawyer Julie joins Smith Partnership as caseloads continue to grow
A highly experienced residential property lawyer has been recruited to help a Derby law firm deal with a huge increase in case work across all five of its regional offices.
Julie Tomasik, who has more than 40 years’ experience in the industry, has joined Smith Partnership as its head of conveyancing and started her new role at the beginning of October.
She has joined the firm at a time when its conveyancing departments, at its head office in Derby as well as branches in Burton, Stoke, Leicester and Swadlincote, are continuing.
Julie will oversee a team of 15 legal staff and, alongside her own case work, will monitor and, if necessary, implement new IT and admin systems to ensure that the firm can continue to process a spike in conveyancing cases while maintaining its high levels of customer care.
Julie has worked across the Midlands throughout her career and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, a member of the Conveyancing Specialist Referral Group at the Institute as well as a member of the Home-Buying and Selling Group, which is an informal mix of people from across the property, legal and financial sectors who work together to improve the experience of the industry for customers.
Julie comments that while the role is increasingly complex, success comes down to the same thing – ensuring buyers can complete all of the necessary financial and legal checks they need in order that they can move into their dream home.
She said: “I’ve seen lots of changes throughout my career but the one thing that has never changed is the need for people to always want to move home, whether for family reasons or through work, or, following the pandemic, for home-working.
“None of those moves can be completed without the lawyer ensuring all of the legal reviews, checks and searches are completed, which has become a complex process in this day and age”.
“At the same time, people’s need to minimise the time this process takes is understandably pressing, so my task is to ensure that, with the number of cases we’re currently handling still high, we continue to deal with the workload effectively and efficiently to ensure customers complete their house moves successfully.”
Kevin McGrath, managing partner of Smith Partnership, said:”We are thrilled to welcome Julie to the firm. She brings a wealth of experience and a passion for client care that will ensure that we continue to offer the best possible service to all of our conveyancing clients.”
