Smith Partnership goes the extra mile to protect client data

We are proud to announce that we have been awarded with the Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation!

This is a government recognised award and is the industry gold standard for cyber security. We are incredibly proud to be able to achieve this – especially as we are one of first law firms in the Derby to be recognised.

At Smith Partnership, cyber security is at the heart of everything that we do, and we understand the importance of protecting our clients’ data. This accreditation demonstrates to our clients, that we are holding their data securely and have clear security measures to protect information, allowing them peace of mind before instructing us.

To achieve this certification, our IT systems underwent a thorough audit process that examined all aspects of our cyber security. This included the functionality of our firewalls, secure configuration, access control, malware protection and security update management.

Stephen Banks, our IT Manager, headed up the Cyber Essentials Plus project, he talks about importance of achieving this “Cyber security is a priority of IT teams across all industries, but it is especially important in a law firm of this size. This certification shows that as a firm, we have taken all possible measures to safeguard our systems. However, this does not mean that we will become complacent. Cyber-attacks are constantly evolving and becoming more malicious and sophisticated, so our IT department continues to innovate and implement new policies to protect us from attacks, to ensure the safety of our systems and the data that we hold.”

Our Managing Partner, Kevin McGrath, talks about what the accreditation means to the firm “This accreditation is a huge source of pride for me, and the whole firm. Cyber security is of utmost importance, and this is a recognition that as a firm, we are doing all we can to remain cyber safe.”

“We would not have been able to achieve this without the dedication of our staff to remaining cyber secure, by following policies and through our IT department constantly implementing the latest safety measures.”

“A special recognition goes to Stephen Banks who has worked tirelessly to ensure that our systems are as secure as possible and who is the reason we were successful in this accreditation! We are all incredibly grateful for the effort that he has put in.”
