Wishing a happy retirement to two of our longest serving Legal Secretaries

Smith Partnership is bidding farewell to two of our longest serving members of support staff, who are retiring in June, after 57 years of combined service. The firm is grateful for Jill Devitt and Rachel Newey’s dedication and wishes them both all the best for the future.

Jill has been a legal secretary in our Derby Crime Department since 1992, during which time, she has offered unwavering support to the team.

Andrew Oldroyd, Partner and Derby Branch Manager, said:

“I have worked with Jill throughout her 32 years’ service with Smith Partnership. She is always happy to assist with whatever the team requires and consistently provides the highest possible level of service. Jill is a most popular member of the Criminal Defence Department and, as such, will be sadly missed. We wish her all the best for a happy retirement”

Rachel, who is a legal secretary in our Burton Conveyancing Department, has been at Smith Partnership for 25 years, and joined the firm when Smith Partnership merged with Goodger Auden.

Conveyancer, Tim Jackson, spoke about his time working with Rachel:

“Rachel assists our conveyancers who represent clients in buying and selling properties to remortgages and transfers of equity - her level of client care is unmatched. We wish her all the best in her retirement.”

Our Managing Partner, Kevin McGrath congratulated them both on their long service and said:

“It’s remarkable that they have both been with Smith Partnership since almost the very beginning and to think about how much change they have seen in that time. We are all very grateful for the loyalty and commitment they have demonstrated in the combined 57 years of service. We wish them all the very best.”
