Smith Partnership shows its support for the city as its staff get set for the 10km

Smith Partnership is set to continue our long commitment to supporting the city’s popular 10k race after funding another bumper turnout from our staff at the event this weekend.

Around 11 employees from Smith Partnership, in Friar Gate, are set to take their places in amongst the 5,000-or-so other competitors who will be running the 10K/6.2-mile race through Pride Park and the city centre on Sunday morning (March 24).

Every year Smith Partnership pays for our staff to enter the race as part of its involvement with the Derby County Community Trust, which organises the event, and it is set to be well-represented on the start line this weekend too.

The runners have a range of experience between them, from Derby 10K veterans Sammi Allen, Paralegal in our Family team, and Accounts Clerk Matt Taylor, to first-timers Amelia Sutcliffe, Trainee Solicitor, and John Ellis, a Dispute Resolution Solicitor.

Making her second appearance in the 10k is Marketing Executive, Sophie Shapcott, who will be lining up alongside Partner Bally Atwal, Claire Twells, Head of Debt Recovery, Childcare Solicitor Eleanor Derry, Support Analyst Joe Davis, Network Administrator Scott Wallis and Carrieanne Masters, Personal Injury Paralegal.

John said: “I’ve only recently joined the firm, so this is my first time in the race but there are quite a few of us who have done it a number of times and it’s become an important event on the Smith Partnership calendar.

“We’re keen supporters of the Derby County Community Trust and also of the community and the city itself, so I think it’s really important for us to put out a strong team in events like this.

“I understand that it can quite competitive among our runners and some have trained more than others, but everyone’s looking forward to it and it should be a great event.”
