Smith Partnerships’ Leicester branch celebrates four award nominations.
The Leicestershire Law Society Awards shortlistings were announced on Thursday the 4th April, at the Porsche Centre Leicester.
Smith Partnership employees, Associate Lisa Franklin, Trainee Solicitor Sophie Wilson and Legal Secretary Shabana Abdulla were all announced as finalists in their categories. On top of this, the team were shortlisted for the prestigious “Large Law Firm of the Year” award for the second year running.
Della Phillips, Partner and Branch Manager at Smith Partnership’s Leicester office, said: “I could not be prouder of my team. Their dedication and level of client care is outstanding, and this is a wonderful recognition of their commitment.”
Lisa, who is shortlisted for “Legal Executive of the Year”, has a passion for giving back to the local community. She has recently been appointed Co-Chair for a local charity, is a governor at a local nursery for disabled children, and an Enterprise Advisor for a local secondary school in a deprived area.
She says, “I was nominated for my dedication to client care and for my commitment to the community. It is a privilege to be considered for this distinguished award.”
Sophie is shortlisted for the “Trainee / Paralegal of the Year” due to her outstanding contribution to the Professional Liability and Contentious Trusts departments and her passion of helping the next generation of lawyers.
“I believe it is vitally important to give back to the establishments that helped me navigate my way into the profession.” She adds, “I have had the privilege of sitting on a panel of experts at De Montfort University discussing careers in law and helped with mock interviews for students.”
Shabana, who is shortlisted for “Support Staff of the Year”, specialises in Family Law and has worked at Smith Partnership for 32 years. This award aims to recognise the support staff play a crucial role in the success of a law firm and those who have gone above and beyond their job description.
She said, “I was flattered to be shortlisted for this award, I hold great respect in my job and I’m always looking to provide my maximum abilities to my employer, so it is great to know my hard work is recognised.”
The news of our four award nominations at the start of the month arrives in quick succession of winning “Large Law Firm of the Year” in 2023 and Partner, Russell Davies, being named 'Commercial Lawyer of the Year' at the Derby and District Law Society awards - whilst Amelia Sutcliffe was awarded 'Trainee Lawyer of the Year'.
